Urban chicken rearing is exploding – functional pets that lay fresh eggs, why not? As backyard chicken farms expand, many cities have relaxed their policies on these feathered friends, allowing chickens within city limits (however noisy roosters are a different story). To tackle questions associated with urban animal husbandry, Seattle Tilth hosts a Chicken Coop and Animal Husbandry Tour.  Future farmers can learn about designing a chicken coop, caring for them and where to go if questions arise.
